| Fully qualified persons of journeyperson status in the Hairstylist occupation are fully familiar with the materials, tools, principles and skills required in the Hairstylist occupation. Specific tasks in the occupation include: - The cleaning, cutting, bleaching, colouring, dressing, curling, waving, permanent waving and the performing of similar work on the hair of a person either by hand or by the use of any mechanical application or appliance, and - the preparing of wigs and artificial hairpieces. A person who is the holder of a valid Hairstylist license under An Act to incorporate the Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick may apply to challenge the certification examination. Successful candidates will be awarded a New Brunswick Certificate of Qualification. In most instances, an Interprovincial Red Seal will be affixed to the document. Persons of journeyperson status may be employed in hair salons or may become self-employed. A person from New Brunswick can obtain an Interprovincial Standards Red Seal for Hairstylist by: -Obtaining the New Brunswick Cosmetology license; -Applying to write the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Examination through the NB Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, Apprenticeship and Certification Branch -Completing the application for Red Seal Interprovincial Examination; -Providing proof of the Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick's license for hairstylist; -Paying the required fees and; -Successfully challenging the Interprovincial Examination. |
