| Overview: |
| The Minister shall provide a system of teacher certification for the purposes of establishing certification standards and for the issuance, conversion, suspension, revocation and reinstatement of teachers' certificates. |

| Eligibility: |
| The Minister may issue a teacher's certificate or an interim teacher's certificate to a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or a person who provides evidence that the person is entitled under the laws of Canada to obtain employment in Canada as a teacher. |

| Description: |
Application procedure:
1. A person shall apply in writing to the Minister for a certificate.
2. An application shall be supported by a certified transcript issued directly from the issuing institution to the Minister.
3. Where the Minister receives an application for a certificate, other than an interim teacher's certificate, between April 1 and October 31 of any year, the certificate issued shall be dated July 2 of that year.
4. Where the Minister receives an application for a certificate, other than an interim teacher's certificate, between November 1 and March 31 of any school year, the certificate issued shall be dated January 2 of that school year.
